What Is The Expected Lifespan of Composite Decking?

The expected lifespan of outdoor composite decking may vary under normal use, but based on current installation projects of composite decking and technical testing in laboratories, it is typically between 20 to 30 years.

There are several factors that can affect the lifespan of composite decking:

1. The quality of composite materials themselves is crucial. Higher quality composite materials have better UV resistance, moisture resistance, and wear resistance, often resulting in a longer lifespan.

2. The installation process also plays an important role. If the composite decking is installed correctly, with appropriate drainage spacing and secure fastening, it is more likely to withstand harsh weather and have a longer service life.

3. Regular maintenance, such as cleaning to remove dirt and debris, can also extend the lifespan of composite decking.

4. Environmental conditions are also important. Areas with extreme temperatures, high humidity, or heavy rainfall may put greater pressure on the deck and may shorten its service life. Under mild climatic conditions, a well installed and maintained composite decking may easily last for 25 years or longer. However, in harsh coastal environments with salt exposure and strong winds, the lifespan may be close to 20 years.
